Ipek Sahinler

Ipek Sahinler is a doctoral candidate in comparative literature at the University of Texas at Austin, where she teaches gender studies and rhetoric. Originally a translator from Istanbul who has worked with Romance languages, her current doctoral project is about queer Global South literatures, particularly modern Turkey and Mexico. Alongside her studies, she delivers seminars in different cultural venues of Istanbul about what she conceptualizes as “queer Turkish literature” and runs the Turkish Literature in Translation Reading Group with its adjacent LiteraTurca Podcast. Since December 2020, she is a research fellow at the Institute for Queer Theory Berlin (iQt).
