A prominent voice of contemporary Afghan poetry, Mariam Meetra published her first book of poems, Life at the Edge, in Persian in 2013. Her latest book of poems, published by Wallstein Verlag in Germany as a bilingual Persian-German edition titled Ich habe den Zorn des Windes gesehen (I saw the fury of the wind), won the prestigious Adelbert von Chamisso Prize in November 2023. She currently resides in exile in Berlin, where she is a research fellow at Leipzig University.
