From the Gaza Strip, Palestine, Hani Al-Salmi was born in a camp and began his love of writing at a young age. He embarked as a writer to answer an existential question, Why are we here in this camp? He has published twenty novels and stories for children and received awards for his writing in the Arab world. Al-Salmi still lives in Gaza and suffers from the war, along with his family, from fear, bombing, hunger, thirst, life in a tent, and displacement.
