Colombian writer Gabriel García Márquez (1927–2014) is best known for his novels One Hundred Years of Solitude and Love in the Time of Cholera. He was the 1972 winner of the Neustadt International Prize for Literature and the 1982 winner of the Nobel Prize in Literature.
