Dacia Maraini (b. 1936) has established herself as a leading contemporary novelist, poet, dramatist, and journalist. She founded an all-female theater company, is the editor of Nuovi Argomenti, Italy’s premier literary journal, and is recognized among the foremost Italian writers. She was a finalist for the Man Booker International Prize and a three-time nominee for the Nobel Prize in Literature.
