Baby Boom (excerpts)
Japanese art comics icon Yūichi Yokoyama pushes the basic codes of manga so far that his work enters alien territory. In books like Travel, geometrically rendered speedlines take center stage. In Baby Boom, first published in Japan by Īsuto Puresu in 2009, his abstraction yields, instead, casual full-color marker drawings that express gently humorous vignettes about a vaguely parental relationship.
